Associative Property – Chapter 2

The associative poperty states that you can add or multiply regadless of how the numbers are grouped. By gouped means that how you use parenthesis.

Lets take an example for Addition and Multiplication:

Addition:

5 + 2 + 6 = 5 + 2 + 6

(5 + 2) + 6 = 5 + (2 + 6)

7 + 6 = 5 + 8

13 = 13

Multiplication:

2 x 3 x 4 = 2 x 3 x 4

(2 x 3) x 4 = 2 x (3 x 4)

6 x 4 = 2 x 12

24 = 24

In above example we put the parenthesis where ever we like but the result of both side are same.

For Commutative Property – Chapter 2 or for Distributive Property.
